Understanding leads to growth; seeking help is a step toward healing

Personality disorders involve enduring patterns of behavior, cognition, and inner experience that deviate markedly from cultural expectations, often leading to distress or impairment.

Our clinicians diagnose personality disorders using the DSM-5 and assessments like the Personality Inventory for DSM-5 (PID-5) and Millon Clinical Multiaxial Inventory (MCMI). Diagnosis includes evaluating long-term patterns in relationships, self-perception, and emotions.

Treatment often combines psychotherapy (dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) or cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) aimed at improving coping mechanisms and interpersonal skills). We may also add medication when appropriate or when there are co-occurring or multiple conditions that necessitate medication. Our goal is to reduce symptoms, improve coping skills, and enhance quality of life.

While treatment outcomes vary, many patients achieve better self-understanding, symptom management, and enhanced daily functioning with consistent care.
